Many bands and musicians will be familiar names, whilst others are yet to be discovered. Local promoters will also be bringing acts to this stage over the weekend.
Some of the participants have been supported by Bradford Council's Mentoring Programme, which has helped more than 85 musicians get advice from experts at Voltage Studios, Mike Heaton, Factory St. Studios and Waxworks. This initiative has helped provide these musicians with some of the skills they need to develop professional careers in the music industry. The scheme will run for the next 2 years, and Artworks will showcase some of the best musicians who have undergone their Youth Music Mentoring Scheme so far, on the Peel Stage.
The new stage will mark the launch by Fabric, Bradford's arts development organisation, of 'Bradford Music Network.' Bradford Music Network is a system where musicians, bands, promoters, studios, rehearsal spaces and venues share information about the Bradford music scene. It provides access to mentoring and specialist advice, offers special benefits to members including reduced rates for rehearsal and recording facilities, and the chance to feature in a regular series of showcase performances and CDs. Bradford Music Network focuses on contemporary popular music in all its forms and musicians who aspire to make a living from their music. It is one of a number of networks supported by Fabric.
