A humble event by today’s standards, the first Bradford Mela pioneered a new kind of event in Britain, creating an informal environment to meet friends, eat, play, socialise, shop, and be entertained all at once. It gathered huge support from the local communities, with over 10,000 people attending to see Mela Punjab Da recreating typical scenes from rural Punjab.
